Our Story Begins in Kenya
Sights Travel & Tours was founded on lived experience, not industry theory, by Catherine Mucheru, our Founder and Director. Born and raised in Kenya, Catherine’s journey began long before curating safaris or designing itineraries. Africa is home, and every landscape, migration pattern, and cultural rhythm is deeply familiar because it’s part of who she is.
For over 20 years, Catherine has worked in the luxury safari and Destination Management space, building meaningful relationships with conservationists, lodge owners, guides, communities, and wildlife experts across Eastern and Southern Africa. Her vision guides every journey we create, ensuring that each experience reflects authenticity, connection, and the spirit of the continent.

Catherine Nicholas is the visionary founder and driving force behind Sights Travel, a women-owned Destination Management Company (DMC) redefining how travelers experience Africa. Born and raised in Kenya, Catherine’s deep roots in the region give her a unique advantage: an intimate understanding of the land, its wildlife, and its people, as well as the insight to craft experiences that are truly authentic. Growing up immersed in East Africa’s rich landscapes and vibrant cultures, Catherine developed a lifelong passion for meaningful travel, which became the foundation for Sights Travel.
With over 20 years of experience, Catherine has grown Sights Travel from a small boutique operation into a leading African DMC, specializing in curated safaris and luxury travel experiences. Over the years, the company has expanded its portfolio beyond East Africa to include South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Ghana, Morocco, Egypt, and Israel, and continues to add more destinations as the company grows. This long-standing presence in the industry reflects a deep expertise, a network of trusted local partners, and a reputation for delivering seamless, unforgettable journeys.

You’ll see below most of our guides have earned this prestigious endorsement from the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association which is the KPSGA Bronze certification.
It’s your assurance your guide has received expert training. And also adheres to the highest ethical standards as recognized by their professional certification.
In addition to these standards all our guides regularly take refresher courses to keep up with the newest advancements in tourism and tour guiding. Our guides are multi-lingual, speaking local languages, Swahili and English with some also fluent in German, Italian, French and Spanish.
